If the United States is going to come-from-behind to win the 2026 Presidents Cup, it will do so while playing without Scottie Scheffler for the first time in years at a major international team event.

The Americans narrowly won the session, trimming the International lead to 8 1/2-5 1/2 heading into the afternoon foursomes matches.

The U.S. grabbed a 3-2 lead when four-ball action was complete on Thursday, Sept. 24, as stars Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Wyndham Clark were each part of pairings that secured a point.

The U.S. will begin the final session in danger of losing the Presidents Cup for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The 2026 Presidents Cup is officially underway, entering Day 2 of four on Friday at Medinah No. 3 in Chicago.
